Hare Krishna Festival in the UK!
Birmingham Festival of Harikatha, 24-27 June 2011
Thought I would just give this event a quick plug; it promises to be a wonderful few days! To those of you new to Krishna Consciousness, "Harikatha" means talks about Krishna, and we have a great speaker, Sripada Bhaktivedanta Vana Maharaja from West Bengal in India. He is a sannyasi (see my page "What is Bhakti Yoga?" to find out more) and has been travelling the world extensively for around the last 12 years teaching Bhakti Yoga and inspiring hundreds of people. Visit www.purebhakti.com and click on Bhakti Yoga Teachers for a full bio.
We also have other distinguished sannyasis from our sanga: BV Ashrama Maharaja, BV Giri Mahahraja and BV Bhagavat Maharaja. There will be music, dance and stalls too.
The highlight of the musical program will undoubtedly be The Kirtaniyas, an amazing young four-piece band from LA who have already gathered a big following in the states (see www.kirtaniyas.com) and are currently promoting their new album in Europe.
There will also be workshops; so far we have personal development/ communication, art/ craft- and yours truly will even be doing a cookery class or two at some point. (I may even run a cake stall with my daughter if time and work schedules allow...)
-And not forgetting the free vegetarian (of course) prasadam available at breakfast time, 1:00pm and in the evening too. My husband is in charge of the kitchen, and with a lot of our homegrown organic produce (hopefully) available, you are sure of both healthy and delicious fare...
The venue is Namdhari Gurdwara, 1199 Coventry Road, Birmingham B25 8DF. Free parking at the back; camper vans welcome! Further details are on www.backtobhakti.com in the Tours and Festivals section.
Please come and find out more about our sweet Krishna-Conscious way of life, join in and be inspired whatever your chosen path!
